HFN Industry Report: January 2010
 Despite negative average returns, hedge fund performance began 2010 with a display of one of its core strengths over the long term; the ability to outperform global equity markets during difficult periods.

The industry’s negative performance in January was primarily driven by poor performance from CTA/managed futures products and weak equity markets which also dragged down many emerging market strategies.

HFN Industry Report: December 2009
 Hedge fund performance was again positive in December driven by distressed and emerging market focused strategies. Equity long/short strategies outperformed positive major equity indices for the first time since May 2008. Investor flows in December were near flat and the slight outflows were more likely due to seasonal/year-end related redemptions and not a meaningful reversal of the trend of inflows which began in May 2009.
